Question by …: Why does the guy from the “In the Dog House” television show tell his clients to use a belt leash?
How come the host of “In the Dog House” on Animal Planet doesn’t let people use hand leashes, but instead tells them to tie the leash around their waste?

I don’t know, because if the dogs started running while attached to the person’s waist, that person could get seriously injured or even killed. One small dog is OK,but 4 large dogs is dangerous. I think the guy is a little nuts,if you ask me!

Q&A: how to train a dog to go in dog house?

Question by cats3inhouse: how to train a dog to go in dog house?
I have a 1yr old husky, I just put her in basement at night only- to sleep. during the day(while I am at work during the day) she is outside, but when it rains she won’t go in the new dog house we built for her. I did put her food towards the back(she goes in to eat but comes back out), have blankets and toys in there. but when it rains she stays on the backstairs instead. how to get her to use the dog house when it rains? have tried for 2 months now to get her to use dog house. what else can be done?

Can you move the dog house nearer to the property, it may be too far away due to the fact the dog is used to entering the property by the steps?

What kind of pet is better, rat or hamster?

Question by : What kind of pet is better, rat or hamster?
I know that rats are meant to be in pairs and hamsters aren’t supposed to be in pairs. I already have a hamster card from a few years back and I know that rats are meant to be in large cages, 2 cubic feet per. rat.

Please give me pros and cons about both, rats and hamsters. I know all costs, and also write down how I can make good structure rat cages.
thanx

Are their adoption shelters that allow you to adopt a pet for free like for underpriveleged families?

Question by mbianca42@yahoo.com: Are their adoption shelters that allow you to adopt a pet for free like for underpriveleged families?
and/or give the supplies needed to care for the pet for kids and their families who can provide a nice home for the pet but cant really afford much?

Best answer:

Answer by Kate M
Shelters aren’t going to give away animals. If you can’t afford a small adoption fee, how can you afford to care for the pet? Shelters aren’t there to provide everything for an animal that they have adopted out. They will sometimes help people who already have pets, but it isn’t usually long term more if you need food for a few weeks or to get your pet fixed.

Try finding a pet you can afford. If you can’t afford a dog or cat, think about a hamster or guinea pig. They are usually cheaper to care for but still require research and make great pets. You will need to be able to afford the proper care of these animals as well. Some shelters also get these species and the adoption fee is usually less than $ 50 depending on the species.

What would win in a fight, a grumpy honey badger or a vexed pit bull?

Question by Rebecca: What would win in a fight, a grumpy honey badger or a vexed pit bull?
I’m living on a game park in Nambia with my dog and accidentally trapped an infamous honey badger in the area around my lodge. My dog is dying to get at the badger but ive heard theyre quite dangerous so I dont know whether I should release it or film the fight for scientific research/ personal enjoyment. I don’t think theres much Rex couldn’t eat. Let me know your thoughts thank you.

I think it is a deplorable suggestion and there is no scientific interest in seeing an animal fight to the death, you are trying to somehow justify a sadisitc pursuit. Both animals can be seriously injured, if you don’t care about the honey badger then at least care about your own dog, let the thing go, its done you no harm.

Question by Jackiee♥: How to keep my dog calm in the fireworks?
Normally when there’s fireworks on, we usually leave someone at home with the dog, to keep him calm. We leave the TV on for him. But we’re all going out to watch the town fireworks.
What can we do to keep him calm during the fireworks since no one will be home? He’ll be kept inside

He’s a rottweiler, 7 years old…..

Best answer:

Yea you could leave a tv or radio on for him but if he freaks out to bad your vet can always give you a pill to calm him down. This helps.
