Q&A: Any good hotels in the keys that are dog friendly?

Question by Shelbo: Any good hotels in the keys that are dog friendly?
Hey, I might be going to Key Largo this summer and we have a Chihuahua we have to take with us. But my brother is somewhat allergic to dogs, so we need a dog friendly clean hotel to stay at! Thank you all! :)

Question by Kristina Trey: what would happen if a dog accidentally ate a chicken bone?
my dog kept bothering my dad while he was eating, so he gave her some chicken and the bone. After eating the chicken, she began to eat the bone, and I was able to grab it after she ate about half of it. Could her eating it, have caused anything serious?

Answer by Holly
It’s possible, but most likely it will pass on its own.

Watch for signs of illness. If you see any, contact your vet right away.

Dogs eat all kinds of strange things. Most often they do pass on their own, but damage can be caused.
With a cooked chicken bone for instance, it can splinter and cause damage to the digestive system. It can also become lodged in the digestive tract causing a blockage.

Just keep an eye on her and tell your dad, no more cooked bones!

How can you stop your dog from eating his poo, when you feel like you’ve tried it all??? Desperate!?

Question by Angela S: How can you stop your dog from eating his poo, when you feel like you’ve tried it all??? Desperate!?
I’ve tried pills, punishment, changing dogs diet, etc. It all fails! This has been taking place the past 7 months in my home. The dog is 9 months old now also. It seems like this is his favorite thing in the world. He will even go to the bathroom in his cage, just so he can eat it. He’d take poo over a can of food any day! Not to mention who wants to keep an animal in their house who has poo breath! I feel like this dog is bringing unwanted germs into my home, as well as his whole habbit is just plain sick! Is there any answer for this? Quickly running out of patience! Am I going to have to give him away?…

Uh, wait, why is your dog in a cage? I had a suggestion for you, but if you are keeping your dog in a cage, the problem is mainly you, my dear. God yes, give him to someone who will actually care for him.

Question by Lee: We all have heard that giving dogs chicken bones is bad. Does anyone have firs hand knowledge?
It seems unlikely that nature would not equip dogs to eat chickens. Feral dogs and farm dogs must do this all the time. Does any one have experience with this? Is this just a widespread wives tale?
Ah, cooked bones are the problem. Got it, thanks.
BTW I was not considering giving my little buddy chicken bones if there was the even slightest chance of of it hurting him. I just wanted to know why.

Q&A: How to become an independent for tax reasons?

Question by Rob: How to become an independent for tax reasons?
I am trying to go out of state for college, and no longer talk to my parents, but apparently I still have to file FAFSA with their info. I am 20 years old, its a little ridiculous this country claims I have to be “dependent” until I am 24. I have a real job and a fair enough income. I was wondering if I could claim a dog, as a dependent, and just make sure all of my tax returns are spotless so I don’t get flagged to be audited. Would this work?

Nope.
