Question by Emily Huff: What are your tips for keeping a pet ferret as healthy as possible?
I am to be getting a pet ferret soon and I understand that they are prone to illness and unfortunately terminal disease. So I was wondering some things you can do to keep a ferret as healthy as possible, and anything that may prevent sickness. Also, do you recommend buying from a pet store or home breeder? Do home breeders usually spay/neuter, and get the shots for the ferret babies?

Be as detailed as possible! I know they are a difficult pet to take care of and I want to be prepared.

Id recommend getting from a breeder.
They have better blood lines and you can actually tract their history down to know what diseases they may carry.
But its way easier to get from a pet store and its cheaper.
Usually breeders ferrets aren’t descended, neutered,or have their shots so you have to pay for all of that.
Most pet stores carry marshall ferrets which are healthy ferrets also.
(i have one ferret from a breeder and 2 marshall ferrets)

I would HIGHLY recommend switching them to a raw/whole prey diet.
Its way healthier than store bought kibble no matter how good people tell you the kibble is-it wont compare to raw feeding. Raw feeding prevents MANY diseases, keeps teeth cleaner, makes their coat all shiny, and builds muscle instead of fat. If you are interested in feeding your ferret raw you can e-mail me and i can give you TONS of info about it and help you switch your ferret to it.(brianna5769594@yahoo.com).

Question by KristinaMaria: Attention all pet parents. What are your favorite time savings tips at keeping your home clean with pets?
For me it is my vacuum cleaner. Also found that using my cat brush removes air well from pet beds. Vinegar works well for urine smells and cleaning my laminate and tile flooring. No carpet for me. So tell me what products or tips that you use that make being a pet parent easier. Just wanting to share information. Thanks.

Resolve carpet foam works well with any stains on your carpet…when my dogs come in from outside when it is raining I wipe them down with a dryer sheet and it helps with the wet dog smell…and of course a good vacuum!!!!

Question by Nicole: Have you ever heard of people keeping their dead pets in the home?
Have you ever heard of a grieving pet owner digging up the deceased pet’s remains, bringing it into the home to stay pet beds, towels, etc. for it to decompose there? This cannot be normal. I have never heard of it. Any insight to this?

Question by (Y)Spice&Wolf(Y): If we keep on keeping hamsters and rats and gerbils etc, what will happen to the evolution of them?
See we keep on protecting and providing them food and water. What if one day all the rodents eg. hamsters are extinct in the wild? and all that’s left is our home pets hamsters. so if we release them into the wild, they will surely die. So what if in the future hamsters and other rodents evolve into a fatter kind of rodent. and also more lazier. and also more sleepy and cannot hunt? what if they evolve into “lousier” animals? sigh… what do you think?

Well, that’s the problem with some species. Humans may do the same thing.
