How do I make my dog stop digging?

Question by Jennie: How do I make my dog stop digging?
Well the tittle says the big question. It gets over 100 degrees so i think she is doing it to stay cool but lately it is just around 80 degrees and she still digs under the house. We had put boards and her own dog house but that hasn’t helped. She only does it in the one spot. What do I do?

How do I stop my dog from digging in my yard (besides getting rid of the dog).?

Question by hh: How do I stop my dog from digging in my yard (besides getting rid of the dog).?
I have read that putting her own poop in the hole will work, let me know if this is true. Also, she always digs in the same spot- if it rains, she will not dig as long as the hole is wet. She has her own kiddie pool, so i wouldnt think heat was an issue- she also has a covered kennel in the back yard, with a big dog house. She is a 60 pound lab/boxer mix. Any help will be appreciated.

How can I get my 4 mo. old male doberman to stop attacking my cats?

Question by joshdala: How can I get my 4 mo. old male doberman to stop attacking my cats?
I have had the female cats for over three years and I hate that they are no longer comfortable and safe in their home. All three pets are house pets. The cats tried to be friendly but he wants to hurt them.

Sounds like you should have bought from a responsible breeder that socializes his dogs with cats and other small animals.

Sorry, but the only way now is to be vigilant about keeping them apart, unless you want to come home to cat guts everywhere.

Why on earth would you have brought home an animal that isn’t safe around your cats?

How do I get my cats to stop messing with the new pet?

Question by sarah15203: How do I get my cats to stop messing with the new pet?
Well, I expected problems when I brought a new pet mouse home (duh). But my cats are usually very receptive to a strong NO! They usually do not repeat behavior once I say that a few times. But they will not stop trying to get into the mouse’s aquarium. I know of course that little Scabbers is my cats’ natural prey, but I love all of my pets and want to protect the little mouse. Is there anything I can do to keep them away from the aquarium? I thought about putting some double-sided tape down around the aquarium. Any other/better ideas?
I have a mesh lid that is very secure, so there is very little chance of the cats getting in. I couldn’t resist bringing this adorable mouse home, and keeping him from becoming snake food :)
Not that I have any problems with snake owners, of course.

Sorry, but the cat-mouse pet combo just does not work. Cats love furry little creatures that move fast, so the only way to protect the mouse is to get him a real big and entertaining acquarium and fix a lid on top of it. Secure the lid, because cats can learn by themselves to open doors and boxes (mine do). Provide ventilation to the mouse. Good luck!

Question by ebbielynn: how do you stop dogs fighting for the alpha position?
I have a 2 yr old male white german shepherd and a 5 yr old male lab/husky mix, both of which I’ve had since young puppies. The german shepherd is mine, the lab is the hubbys. They’ve had their spats, but normally get along. I went in the hospital Jan. 10, ’07 for 2 weeks for surgery, after I get home these 2 dogs begin fighting. Zuess, the shepherd, is much larger than the lab, Louie, so Louie is getting injured. Since I’ve been home from the hospital, the fighting has not stopped. My question is, is this a dominance thing or what and what can we do about it? At this point, they cannot both be in the house at the same time unless my husband is home. Help!

How do I get my dog to stop jumping the fence?

home for dog

Lodging for your pets
Question by Titantic: How do I get my dog to stop jumping the fence?
My dog is a nearly seven month old black lab mix. We live in the suburbs, and all the houses have fenced in backyards. These fences are about three feet tall. My dog, Kipper jumps the fence into other people’s yards. He only does this when we take the other dog out of the yard by himself, and sometimes when we are not home. The other dog does not do this.

Is there anyway to train Kipper out of jumping the fence without the use of electronic equipment?
We cannot make the fence higher, use an electric fence, or use an electric collar.
