Born 9 March 1910 in West Chester, Pennsylvania, Barber wrote his first piece at age 7 and attempted his first opera at age 10. The wedding cantata Gloria e Imeneo (RV 687) was written for the marriage of Louis XV. These CD's are of good quality and highly recommended, though it is regrettable that Naxos chose to record these pieces on 6-string guitar, thus missing the extended sonority of the 7 and 8 string guitars for which the pieces were composed.
